The Right Dyslexia Treatment for Your Child

The Right Dyslexia Treatment Depends on Your Child’s Profile

The diagnosis was dyslexia, learning disabilities, ADHD and anxiety.  The recommendations included:

  •  An Orton Gillingham (R) or Lindamood-Bell  (R) dyslexia treatment
  • ADHD medication
  • Counseling for anxiety
  • Getting vision checked

Mom took Sarah to a ophthalmologist, who found there was no vision problem.

Mom called her best friend, who said, “Stop what you are doing and call Debbie — your daughter sounds just like her daughter and she found the 3D  Learner Program (R) that really helped her daughter.  Their program is far different than all the dyslexia treatments I am aware 0f and it sounds like what your daughter needs.”

The Right Dyslexia Treatment Is Often Based on a Student’s Strengths

The call started with Debbie asking:

  • Does Sarah remember places visited, even from years ago?  Yes was the answer.
  • Does Sarah learn best when she sees and experiences information?  Yes
  • Is Sarah a lot smarter than results would indicate?  Yes

Debbie shared how she had tried two dyslexia treatments, when she visited a friend whose son had made dramatic gains with 3D Learner.  Debbie has been asked the same questions, and also responded that this described her daughter.

Debbie has taken her daughter to 3D Learner and the results were dramatic.

Her daughter’s:

  • Reading comprehension improved by 3 grade levels in a year
  • Grades improves from a C- to an A- average
  • Anxiety problems virtually disappearing – including an ulcer the doctor could not find anymore
  • Self-esteem improved dramatically

Mom called 3D Learner and was surprised to realize how well we knew her daughter.

We then asked, questions about what the key issues.  Specifically:

  • Was reading comprehension an issue?
  • Does your daughter avoid reading?
  • Does your child complain of headaches when reading?
  • Does your child lose focus when bored or frustrated?
  • Does homework take a long time?
  • Is anxiety an issue?

The answers was yes to all the questions (this is not true for all students) and mom asked a few more questions:

  • Spelling is a really a problem, do you help that too?
  • Self-esteem is a real challenge?  Can you improve spelling too?
  • Can you help me to help my daughter?

The answer is yes to all of the above

When mom did our Success Assessment with her daughter, it confirmed her daughter learned differently and had an attention issue.  It also appeared to indicated that her daughter might have an eye-teaming issue.

When Sarah came to 3D Learner, we confirmed a learning difference and attention, eye-teaming and anxiety challenges.  The first two days of training were very positive.  Dad called to reschedule the balance of the training so he could attend.

Dyslexia Treatments Often do not Address The Whole Child

Dyslexia Treatment to Improve Reading Comprehension, Attention, Eye-Teaming and Addresses Anxiety Challenges

Dad came for the third day of training and was surprised when he saw:

  • How his daughter quickly lost focus on the Interactive Metronome (R) — a tool we use to assess attention
  • How her left eye did not track when reading — as shown on the Visagraph (R) -an- excellent tool to measure how well a student’s eyes track when reading
  • How happy his daughter was

When we went out for dinner, his daughter asked to stop at a Barnes and Noble to buy a book — a harder book than she had ever read.  That night he saw a light from behind a curtain in their hotel room. He opened the curtain to see his daughter reading.

Better yet, Sarah went from the worst reader in her third grade class to the best reader in her fourth grade class.  She also won a reading competition, reading 720 pages in a month, with the second place student reading 340 pages and the average student reading 190 pages.

In addition to reading comprehension and the love of reading improving:

  • Homework time was reduced from 2.5 to 3 hours a night to under an hour
  • Spelling improved dramatically and Sarah remembered the words a year later
  • Anxiety went down and self-esteem significantly improved

If this sounds like your child — visit 3D Learner, take our no cost Success Assessment and let’s discuss how to help your child go from Stress to Success — whether your child had dyslexia, learning disabilities or just has the potential to do much better.
