Third Grade Retention has been a cornerstone of Education Policy in Florida since 2002.
Third grade retention and other student grade retention is driven by Senate Bill 1008.25.
Facing the risk of third grade retention, many parents choose to either opt-out of the test, send their child to a private school or homeschool their child. We encourage parents to consider our approach …
At 3D Learner, rather than trying to fight this law, we focus on Success by Third Grade or Sooner.
We offer an Integrated, Engaging and Effective Process that has helped the vast majority of our students to:
1- Get a Level 2 on the third grade English Language Assessment — the level required to avoid third grade retention
2- Improve his or her reading comprehension to grade level or above by August, when they start fourth grade
3- If students start too late to get a Level 2 on the test, we shift the focus to meet one of the Good Cause Exemptions that Florida offers to allow a student to be promoted to 4th grade
Third Grade Retention Can Be Beaten with The Right Program
For students facing third grade retention or retention in the earlier grades, reading comprehension is the issue that many people focus on. What is often missed is that students often learn differently and have some combination of attention, eye-teaming, working memory and/or anxiety challenges.

Beat Third Grade Retention with an Integrated Approach
The good news is that it is not too late. As one mom wrote,
Mira, Mark and Victoria truly care about and love their students. My daughter came to them just about a month before the FSA and they helped her PASS!! What a huge accomplishment for a student that was told she was going to be retained and was not “reading on grade level” which was a contradiction to what I know, she has been “reading” with me since she was 4 years old.
