Learning Disabilities and ADHD Mask Learning Differences

Learning Disabilities and ADHD are often confusing. As a Learning Center, our 3D Learner Team is often asked to explain learning disabilities and ADHD to parents and students. Attitude Magazine recently had an excellent article on “Explaining Learning Disabilities and ADHD to Your Child”. The author explains that a learning disability is often caused by a learning difference. She correctly describes ADHD — The Inattentive Type as a difference in brain wiring that makes paying attention difficult.

At the 3D Learner Learning Center, we agree with this explanation. What we do differently, is we:

  • Use the term learning disabilities to get services at school, and use learning differences, when appropriate
  • Teach the way these visual learners learn to improve reading comprehension, standardized test scores and so much more (e.g. spelling, mastery of math facts, working memory, processing speed, eye-teaming, etc)
  • Address the attention issue with tools like the Interactive Metronome (R) and Brain Gym (R)
  • Help parents be the coach and advocate your child needs
  • Partner with parents and schools to help the child reach his or her potential

Shifting The Focus from Learning Disabilities to Learning Differences

As a Learning Center, we recognize that learning disabilities, learning differences, attention problems and eye-teaming problems are often missed or dealt with one issue at a time.

Learning Center for Smart Kids
Learning Center That Identifies & Addresses Learning Differences, Attention Issues and More

We have three core beliefs:

  • Informed, Empowered and Proactive Parents have the best chance of helping your child succeed
  • You want to know if your child learns differently and whether there is an attention, eye-teaming, anxiety and/or related issue
  • Once you have this information you are in a better chance to make the difference

To help you, we have developed three ways to help you:

  • A Success Assessment you can do with your child that will screen for a learning difference, attention, eye-teaming and related challenges
  • You can then call the 3D Learner Learning Center for a no cost Stress to Success Strategy Session
  • We do offer an Integrated, Engaging and Effective Program that can be tailored to your child’s needs
